Palestinian Business Investment Forum - October 12, 2008

The events addressed investment and promoted economic/ business relationships between Palestine and the U.S. It was an opportunity for our members (who participated) to network and establish connections and business acquaintances on the personal and business-to-business level.


Brief about the daily activities:


Sunday: October 12

The delegation attended the Third Annual Gala organized by ATFP (American Task Force on Palestine) at the Ritz Carlton. This event was organized to honor the accomplishments of Palestinian Americans: a number of Palestinian American businesspeople were acknowledged. The event was attended by a large number of Americans, Arabs, Palestinians, Palestinian Americans in addition to U.S. and Palestinian Officials, Arab and American diplomats and Palestinian American business leaders. H.E. Dr. Salam Fayyad delivered his keynotes during this event.


Monday: October 13

The delegation was invited to a Luncheon organized by AFTP and sponsored by Mr. Farouk Shami to discuss the economic environment in Palestine. The Lunch was followed by a networking reception that was organized by AFTP and NUSACC. A number of American, Palestinian American businesspeople were invited to the reception. It was an opportunity for the participants to network, discuss investment opportunities and establish business acquaintances. PACC briefed the audience on its activities and engagements, this was followed by an introduction about the participating members, and then the meeting was encouraged to network.


Tuesday: October 14

The delegation participated in the Palestinian Business & Investment Forum; a full day forum that was divided into 3 sessions and 4 panels.

The morning session focused on addressing the importance of nourishing the Palestinian economy. H.E. Dr. Fayyad and the U.S. Secretary Rice delivered their keynotes during this session. Other organizations such as USTDA and the Case Foundation and businesses such as Intel, Cisco and TouchStar announced their commitment to investing in Palestine.

Panels covered the following:

      1.      Doing Business in Palestine
      2.      Information & Communication Technology
      3.      Agribusiness
      4.      Pharmaceutical  


Many businesspeople of the Palestinian delegation participated in the aforementioned sessions and panels.

Wednesday: October 15

PACC had held productive meetings with the U.S. Chamber and other U.S. organizations seeking ways of cooperation to better serve its members at all levels.
