AmCham Members‘ Study
AmCham conducted a Needs Assessment Study to understand the members needs and the daily impediments and obstacles facing their businesses, the study was conducted on 55 members from 16 different business sectors, the following were the results:
Many companies from different business sectors need to provide training for their employees in various field with the latest know-how in the United States. Copmanies also requested assitance in recruiting qualified fresh graduates.
The main imperdiments and obstacles that all companies face are those related to Access and Movement, as all importing/exporting companies have difficulties in releasing goods from israeli ports and customs in addition to the difficulty of moving the goods in the Palestinian territories. Other companies that provide services and not goods need assistance in getting permits and special arrangement for their employees to facilitate their work and movement between Palestinian cities.
Many companies welcome joint ventures and partnerships with U.S. companies and investors, and they are willing to attend conferences, exhibitions, and tradeshows that AmCham finds appropriate for the companies in the United States to establish world wide contacts and create partnership opportunities. However, they requested financial assistance to be able to attend such conferences and tradeshows.
Certain sectors are facing some impediments that are obstructing their production and work, for example, companies in the industrial sector need certain chemicals to for their production lines, Israeli authorities are restricting the importation of these chemical causing the companies to stop their production lines. Other companies from the food and beverages sector that import dairy products are limited to importing a certain amount of products each year due to Israeli laws on importing dairy products.
