The Palestinian American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) has held a reception on the sidelines of the Palestine Investment Conference (PIC) on Thursday, May 22nd, 2008 at the Jacir Palace Intercontinental in Bethlehem.
The reception was attended by more than 80 businesspeople from both Palestine and the US.
The reception’s main goal was to encourage trade and investment between Palestinian and American business communities. The reception allowed the attendees to meet with key representatives from the US Private and Public Sectors, and leading Palestinian businesspeople from various economic sectors.

The chairman, Mr. Kareem Shehadeh, opened the reception by welcoming the attendees and pointing out the role of the AmCham in serving and supporting the development of the commercial activities between the Palestinian and American sectors. Mr. Shehadeh also stressed the importance of the PIC that aims at endorsing partnerships between the Palestinian and the international business communities, similarly the PACC aims at promoting the development of commerce and investment between American and Palestinian business communities.
Key representatives from the US delegation who participated in the PIC; Head of US Private Sector Delegation - Mr. Walter Isaacson, President and CEO of The Aspen Institute, Mr. Larry Walther, Director of United States Trade and Development Agency, Mr. Robert Mosbacher, Jr. President and CEO of Overseas Private Investment Corporation “OPIC”, and Mr. Ziad Asali, President of The American Task Force on Palestine, have emphasized the significant role of the PACC and the importance of having continuous cooperation between Palestinian and American business communities.
The AmCham’s Executive Director, Ms. Grace Odeh, had a brief presentation about the PACC, its strategic objectives, its reactivation and its members. Ms. Odeh has also stressed out the importance of strengthening the business relations between Palestine and the US. Ms. Odeh concluded by encouraging the meeting to mingle and create valuable connections, as there is a great potential for doing mutual business between both Palestinian and American business communities.
